Transfer of government building to SZV scheduled for next week

St.maarten – The fourth floor of the new government building is ready to receive its residents – the Council of Ministers and its support staff, SZV interim-director Glen Carty said yesterday. Next week the building will be officially transferred from the government to SZV at the notary.

Finance Minister Richard Gibson said yesterday that the government will start paying rent after the transfer, so that will be per October 1.

The Cft is pressing the government to transfer the building to stay in line with the 2016 budget and the Kingdom instruction to settle payment arrears with SZV and the pension fund APS.

The parking lot will be ready next week as well. “The government has to take care of the furniture,” Carty said. “It is of course possible to use the old furniture, but in that case fewer people will fit in. The current plan is based on cubicles that will make it possible to create work spots for 600 to 700 civil servants.”
