St.maarten- Police have arrested three men for the ill-treatment of a police officer on duty. The incident took place last Saturday on Rhine Road in the vicinity of the Tantra night club. The officers were sent to that location to investigate a fight that had taken place. On the scene the officers intervened in a fight between a group of men. This is when one of the officers was attacked from the back. He suffered an injury to his left shoulder.

Immediately reinforcement was called in to assist in the situation. The suspects were all taken to the police station in Philipsburg where they remain in custody pending further investigation. The officer was treated at the Sint Maarten Medical Center for his injuries and is presently on medical leave. The investigation is ongoing.
