Marigot SOS Radio celebrates a milestone today when the radio talk show Talking Point reaches its 2000th edition, according to Jacques “Billy D” Hamlet, the host and producer of the program.

The objective of Talking Point is to inform and educate the people of the entire island of St. Martin about the issues that have been affecting the country,” said Hamlet who is also managing director of SOS Radio.

Hamlet who has over 30 years of experience in radio will give a historical sweep of his career, from the early 1980s to the present, on a special Talking Point program at 9 a.m. on SOS Radio 95.9 FM.

Before opening SOS Radio in 2009, Hamlet worked in Guadeloupe and various radio stations here in St. Martin, “I started out as a teenager back in the early 1980s while in high school in Guadeloupe,” said Hamlet.

After over 30 years of interviewing many guests the popular voice Billy D. will be in the hot seat today to answer a range of questions.

I think listeners and Billy D’s fans will want to know about his early radio experiences in Guadeloupe, his stint at Radio St. Martin and why he left after 20 years. Some people probably don’t know that he worked at Tropixx 105.5 FM,” said Shujah Reiph who will host this morning’s program.

Some of my toughest interviews over the years have been with politicians,” says Billy D, who is looking forward to being a guest on Talking Point.

The program will include phone calls, and pointing questions about serious issues affecting the country, crime, politics and the domain land issues, said Reiph.

The two-hour program will be broadcast live on SOS Radio 95.9 FM and on MSR Cable TV.
