JCI youth public speaking competition at university

St. Maarten – JCI Live Soualiga holds its first youth public speaking competition for high school students under the age of 18 on Saturday at the university on Pond Island, starting at 6.30 p.m. The topic for this competition is ‘The relevance of youth participation in social responsible projects.speakers get three to five minutes for their address.

The winner of the competition will represent St. Maarten in the JCI Dutch Caribbean youth public speaking competition at the national convention in Curacao from October 15 to 17.

The objective of this project is to empower students by developing their public speaking skills. This will enable students to be eloquent speakers thus boosting their confidence whenever they have to address the public, school meetings, debating competitions and orientation. “This event will be an annual one since there is need in the community for such trainings to be done for our students to grow and develop leadership skills and to become good leaders” JCI said in a press release.
