Potential promoters for Carnival 2016 has until June 1 to requestPOSTED: 05/7/15 1:13 PM
GREATBAY–The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has given persons/entities who might be interested in hosting a concert night for Carnival 2016 until June 1, 2015 to request such. The foundation usually awards the concert nights during the month of June in order for it to announce the 2016 schedule of events in July/August. Once the concert nights are set, registration for everything else Carnival related is opened from September 1 to December 1.
Potential concert promoters go through an entire process once they have expressed interest in hosting a concert. The first step is to send an official request letter via email to the SCDF. This letter should contain a basic concept of the intended concert. Once the requests are in, SCDF will evaluate and send draft proposals/contracts to those it selects. They are given a certain period of time to agree/discuss the proposal. If after this period of time the selected person/entity does not commit, SCDF then moves to the next person.
It should be noted that concert promoters of Carnival 2015 will be given first preference but are subjected to the same deadlines and stipulations laid down by the SCDF. “The organizing of Carnival is a disciplined, scheduled process. We do not operate in an adhoc manner, rather in phases that we seldom deviate from,” SCDF President Mike Granger said. “The last phase of any Carnival year is naturally the evaluation and closing off of business of that Carnival year. We are currently in the last phase of Carnival 2015. Awarding the concert nights is the first phase of Carnival 2016. This is important in order for us to structure the schedule. So if you have an interest in hosting a night, please contact us by June 1.”
Interested persons should email their official request letter to: [email protected]
