St. Maarten – The Central Committee of Parliament will meet in public session tomorrow at the request of the National Alliance (NA) faction to discuss the controversial security contract between the Port and Checkmate Security.
The Minister of TEATT Claret Connor, has been invited to be present for the House session. The Central Committee meeting is set for Thursday at 2.00pm in the General Assembly Chamber of the House at Wilhelmina Straat #1 in Philipsburg. The agenda is related to the previous and current contracts signed between the Harbour Group of Companies and Checkmate Security, and the sudden hike in the contract sum for outside security services. This meeting was requested by the NA faction Member of Parliament William Marlin, MP Silveria Jacobs, MP Christophe Emmanuel, and MP George Pantophlet, via a letter dated March 5, 2015.
Members of the public are invited to the House of Parliament to attend the parliamentary deliberation. The House of Parliament is located across from the Court House in Philipsburg. The parliamentary session will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, via Pearl Radio FM 98.1, the audio via the Internet www.pearlfmradio.com, and also via www.sxmparliament.org.
