St. Maarten – Police arrested a woman identified as Y.M. at the Festival Village on Friday evening around 11.15 p.m. after discovering that she was carrying a knife. The woman appeared before the acting prosecutor at the police station and accepted to pay a 500 guilders ($283) fine instead of going to court. After payment, the woman was released.

Police spokesman Ricardo Henson reported that this was the first “Carnival-related criminal case” of the 2015 season. The police will strictly enforce its, Pay or stay policy.
