MAHO—Community Police Officer Josepha has received much credit for his involvement in getting the Police sub-station in the Maho area completed. Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson in his opening remarks said the purpose of the CPO is to interact with the community, listen to their complaints, act on these complaints and deter criminal action while being proactive.

The justice minister expressed his hope that the residents and the people that visit the area “will feel the work” of Josepha’s group, explaining to the officer that he will be the face of St. Maarten in the area. He encouraged the officer to carry on the islands image of being the “Friendly Island” and expressed confidence in Josepha’s ability to carry out his task as he has been instructed to.

Commissioner of Police Carl John also commended Josepha for the work he did in getting the sub-station ready and added that there are many more like Josepha within the police force, which are able to work in the communities.
