SXM Airport (PJIA NV) governance approach in accordance with code issued in 2009POSTED: 10/28/14 9:12 PM
St. Maarten —PJIA NV “correctly presents the governance approach followed by the Managing and Supervisory Boards of the Company in accordance with the Corporate Governance Code issued by the Island Territory of St. Maarten in December 2009,” according to Price WaterHouse Coopers (PWC). This was based on PWC examination.
PwC explained , “An assurance engagement includes examining appropriate evidence on a test basis. We believe that the assurance evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our conclusion.”
The world-renowned company also issued a similar “Assurance Report” for SXM Airport’s Corporate Governance Report 2010. PwC is also the external auditor of PJIAE NV.
PJIAE NV Corporate Governance Reports for 2010 and 2011, which provides an insight into corporate governance at PJIAE as has been adopted over the years and as is observed by the officers of the company, is currently available online at the airport’s website http://www.sxmairport.com/corporate-governance-reports.php.
According to Regina Labega, SXM Airport’s managing director the airport’s Corporate Governance reports for 2012 and 2013 respectively will soon be available on the company’s website. Labega further pointed out that the Annual Reports of SXM Airport, from 2006 up to 2013, are also online “in accordance with our policy of transparency in all our operations.”
The Shareholder and Supervisory Board of Directors of PJIAE NV approved the Corporate Governance reports in May 2014. Subsequently, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) issued their “Assurance Report” on the Corporate Governance Report 2011 on June 27, 2014. This was before PwC’s “Integrity Report” was made public.
