Community police officer guilty of fornication with stepdaughter

St. Maarten – The Court in First Instance sentenced a 42-year-old community police officer yesterday to a 6-month conditional prison sentence and 120 hours of community service for fornication with his under-age stepdaughter and for fornication with a minor who had been entrusted into his care. The court imposed 3 years of probation.

The two girls both aged 14 when the improper contacts occurred in January and July 2012, both made statements to investigators that convinced the court that they are accurate, complete, consistent and comprehensive.

The case blew up on January 31, after the police officer had interacted improperly with his stepdaughter. When his wife returned home, she wanted to attack him. In a statement to investigators, the police officer declared, “I have ripped the phone out of my stepdaughter’s hand because I did not want the police in my house. It is correct what she said, that my wife wanted to kill me and that my stepdaughter had to take the knife and the scissors away from her, and that my wife threw my pistol through the window.”
