Emilio Wilson Estate purchase is still onPOSTED: 06/20/14 12:02 AM
St. Maarten – The Parliament will deal with the budget amendment that is necessary for the purchase of the Emilio Wilson Estate in a meeting scheduled for June 30, Prime Minister Wescot-Williams said at yesterday’s Council of Ministers press briefing.
The budget amendment is necessary because there is no provision in the 2014 budget for the capital investment in the purchase of the estate. The court ordered the government in February to buy the estate in a ruling that was applicable immediately. The government however managed to get a stay of execution for this ruling, though it remains committed to become the estate’s new owner for an amount of $17 million.
