Young Community Helpers Display Uniforms

St. Maarten – In keeping with their three year tradition, the management of the Lighthouse Pre School & Daycare Center in Hope Estate had their annual community helpers’ day yesterday in which the children were attired in a variety of uniforms worn by public servants.

The event allows the kids to be aware of some of the important workers in the community by the uniforms they wear, and is usually held in the month of January and concludes in February. According to Teacher Juliet, normally the kids would wear outfits worn by police officers, firemen, doctors, and teachers.

“What we did this time was to broaden the area so as to allow more community workers to be identified and encourage parents to look for additional uniforms,” Teacher Juliet said. That one of a kind experience can help to nurture some of the young minds. Perhaps in the coming years we may see some of them working as community helpers.
