St. Maarten (DCOMM) – In an effort to stimulate entrepreneurship and better use of the St. Maarten Festival Village, the Stichting Overheidsgebouwen (SOG) has embarked on a weekend program together with the Strictly Business Educational Foundation (SBEF).
This program is scheduled to start directly following the 45th Carnival celebrations.
The aim of the program is to create vending opportunities for small entrepreneurs and to promote, and organize activities in the Festival Village by stimulating the selling of drinks, foods, arts and crafts.
The vendors will be allowed to have booths, tents or tables for vending.
The management of the St. Maarten Festival Village will also initiate a food court at the Festival Village that will be open during the week and for incidental activities, when a large number of cruise ships are in port.
In addition, training in the fields of budgeting, tax procedures, and business management will also be conducted particularly for the vendors at the Festival Village. These sessions will be hosted by St. Maarten Educational Development Foundation.
Vendors who want to register to be part of this program, must have a Dutch passport or should be legally residing on the island.
Registration forms are available at the SOG office at the Festival Village between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For additional information call SOG at 543 05 07 or SBEF at 553 75 80.
