It remains a bit of a mystery why seven members of parliament opted not to show up for a Central Committee meeting about the heavily contested kingdom decree that orders Governor Holiday to conduct an independent integrity investigation.
One may well wonder why anyone would still want to waste energy of this subject because the deal is done and the integrity investigation is underway.
If it is about principles and about fear for what might follow in the future, that energy is better spent on more practical issues.
After all, our politicians have brought the integrity investigation upon themselves, though they will deny this with everything they have.
Instead of focusing on integrity issues, government and parliament alike apparently prefer to bicker endlessly about procedures. That is not helpful for the country, and it certainly is not helpful for the people politicians are supposed to represent.
