Earthquake below sea in Curacao

WILLEMSTAD – A 3.7 earthquake hit the sea Wednesday in Curacao. At about 11 PM, the earthquake took place below the bottom of the sea. This tremor was felt in some sections of the island.

Data received from the Fundacion Venezolana de Investigaciones Sismológicas (FUNVISIS) indicates that this tremor took place at a depth of about 35.6 kilometers below the bottom of the sea with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter Scale. Its epicenter was located near 11.91 degrees north and 68.89 degrees west. This is about 23 kilometers southeast of Willemstad and 19 kilometers south of Jan Thiel.
