St. Maarten – Last week representatives of Aruba, Curacao and Sint Maarten met in Aruba in preparation for the upcoming UPU congress in Doha, Qatar.
The Sint Maarten delegation consisting of Mr. D. Richardson (PSS), Mrs. L. Richardson-Gibbs (GOV) and Ms. P. Brandon (BTP-SXM) joined colleagues from Aruba and Curacao on proposals which will be presented for voting during the congress.
The meetings were successful and voting positions on the numerous proposals were determined. The close cooperation established between the postal entities and regulators of Aruba, Curacao and St. Maarten, will be formalized in a cooperation agreement between parties within short. The mutual aim is to assist, support and guide each other with commitments of exchange of expertise and information.
The three countries share one seat at the UPU and have agreed that the delegation will be headed by Aruba. Jaime Lacle chaired the meetings in Aruba and he will also lead the delegation to the congress.
