St. Maarten – Copa Vacations tour operators from all over South America visited St. Maarten this week. Agents from Lares Tours Uruguay and Olympus Bolivia discovered the joys of island life under the sun while for some agents their home towns are in the dead of winter.
Guests were hosted at the Westin in Dawn Beach and the Maho Sonesta hotel. They were treated to island tours by the tourist office and sampled the island cuisine in various local restaurants; they also visited neighboring Anguilla.
“We are thrilled to now have connecting flights via Copa airlines four times a week. The new lines coming from Uruguay are allowing us to propose St. Maarten as an alternative Caribbean destination”, Lares Tours director Marcelo Bergalo said
“We are diligently collaborating with the tourist offices and hoteliers, uniting to present a friendly and unified island for our South American guests to travel to,” Barbara Warren, international sales manager for the Westin said. “A series of South American family trips have been initiated and organized throughout the summer highlighting the best St Maarten has to offer and we look forward to showcasing our hotels and our friendly island.”
