Frans Richardson objects to TelEm-UTS mergerPOSTED: 07/6/12 12:00 PM
St. Maarten – Independent MP Frans Richardson vehemently opposes a merger between telecom providers TelEm and UTS.
“I am not much in favor of a merger with a company in which Curacao owns shares,” he said yesterday at the parliament building.
Richardson’s objections are based on “the way St. Maarten is being treated by Curacao.” He referred to the post office, where Curacao took all the vehicles away and later also shipped out all furniture back to Curacao. He also referred to the way Curacao is dealing with the Central Bank.
“Therefore I have serious concerns about mergers with any company from Curacao, until they can show that it is possible for a true partnership to exist.”
