St. Maarten – The Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunication Franklin Meyers announced on Tuesday that all places of business must be closed this Friday as part of the observance of Good Friday. This is in accordance with Law on Shop Closure (Publication Sheet 1969, nr. 58), which declares Good Friday an official holiday.
The businesses that are exempted from the regulation are Pharmacies, as far as it concerns the sale of medicine and medical products, bars and restaurants, hotel and guesthouses, stores located in hotels and on airport and harbor premises, funeral parlors, gas stations and bakeries selling pastries, milk and milk products.
No dispensation will be granted for stores to be opened on Good Friday.
