St. Maarten – Isidore ‘Mighty Dow’ York will soon release a video for his hit collaboration with Jamaican dancehall star Anthony ‘Beenie Man’ Moses Davis, on the song ‘You Make Me So’.  Seventy five percent of the video will be shot on St. Maarten with ‘Beenie Man’ visiting the island to play his role in less than a month.

York recorded the song in Beenie Man’s personal studio in Jamaica last week after ten years of having the song in his closet. He returned to the island on Saturday with the immediate plan of launching the music video and the song simultaneously.

“I like to complete things properly. So I will not release the song without the video. In days to come auditions will be announced to have people who are interested in playing the lead roles,” Dow said.

Reflecting on his experience in Jamaica, Dow said that he did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.

“I had to ask him (Beenie Man) to ease up and not take over the tune. He enjoyed doing it. The engineers were even making funny remarks which showed me that they really appreciated working on the song.”

The collaboration creates a unique fusion of dance-hall reggae and steel band music.  Both of the artists have become living legends in their own right. York was inducted into the International Reggae and World Music Award Hall of Fame and received a Life Time Achievement Award last year. Davis is the self-proclaimed ‘King of the Dancehall’, received a Grammy award in 2000 for best reggae album.

The ‘Mighty Dow’ is also working on a still to be titled album. It features his two sons who were very instrumental in his decision to cross over in the making of ‘You Make Me So.’ The single is one of the songs that will be included on the new album. Many of the other tracks were done on the island but digitally mastered in Puerto Rico.

“At first we looked at Shaggy for the collaboration but then realized that Beenie Man would have more mass appeal to the track,” Dow revealed.

He added that while in Jamaica the doorway for future collaborations with other artistes such as Austin ‘Superblue’ Lyons was also discussed.
