Catholics holding march, prayer session for hurricane season

St. Maarten – The St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, in collaboration with the Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group, will have its annual “Walk for God’s March and Protection” during the hurricane season on Saturday, June 4th. The walk begins at 7:00 p.m., at the Cyrus Wathey Square, across from the Courthouse.
From that central point the walkers will proceed through Front Street to Emmaplein, on to the Philipsburg Library, continue to Back Street, Oranje School Alley, and back up Front Street to the Cyrus Wathey Square. Once the group returns to the square there will be praise and worship, prayer and intercession for St. Maarten/St. Martin and the surrounding islands, and a request for God’s protection from hurricanes and other natural disasters.
“We are extending an invitation to the congregations from other churches to join us in this walk. We are told in God’s word that “one can put one thousand to flight, and two can put ten thousand to flight”. We therefore need unity in this endeavor, and look forward to marching with our brothers and sisters from the other churches on the island,” the organizers stated in a press release.
“Let us all come out and give God the praise and worship for our protection during this season,” they also stated.
